KUCHING: The Sarawak State Library’s Reading Seeds Programme, which aims to foster early reading habits among children, has received strong support from Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
The wife of Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar was briefed on the programme by a representative from the Sarawak State Library, Edison Ricket, at Kasuma Resort here, yesterday.
The Reading Seeds Programme aims to cultivate the reading habit among children from an early age, while also strengthening the role of parents and guardians in early literacy development.
In addition, the free distribution of Reading Seeds Kits provides more families with access to quality reading materials and encourages a reading culture at home.
During the session, Fauziah stressed that early exposure to books not only sharpens a child’s thinking skills but also contributes to more balanced emotional and social development.
“Such initiatives are also believed to reduce children’s dependence on gadgets, thereby promoting a more holistic approach to early education.”
Later in a message, Wan Junaidi conveyed his congratulations to the Sarawak State Library for carrying out such a noble effort, which is supported by the Sarawak government.
“It is hoped that the implementation of the programme will have a positive impact on Sarawakian children by building a strong educational foundation for a brighter future,” he said.
