KUCHING: Despite trailing by two goals, Kuching City FC chairman Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman is confident of advancing in the Malaysia FA Cup as they prepare to host Brunei DPMM on September 14.
He said the players’ morale has been lifted by the strong fan support witnessed in the recent home clash against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), and he hopes to see the same atmosphere at the Sarawak State Stadium.
“The players’ spirits are different when they see the stadium full and the supporters giving their all.
“That was the case against JDT, and I hope fans will once again come out in numbers to back the team against Brunei,” he told Sarawak Tribune today (Sept 8).
Fazzrudin stressed that Kuching City has prepared well for the second-leg fixture and believes the deficit can be overturned.
On Aug 16, DPMM FC won 3-2 against Kuching City FC in the first leg of the Malaysia FA Cup at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
Nonetheless, Fazzrudin expressed optimism that the team’s resilience and growing maturity could give Kuching City FC’s fans plenty to cheer about on match day.
