KUCHING: The wait is over: Football Association of Sarawak has a new chief at its helm.

Kuching City FC Chairman, Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, emerged as the clear successor after securing the top post unopposed – cementing his rise as the new face of Sarawak football leadership.

His ascension came after his challenger, Dr Mohd Shafiq Abdullah, withdrew at the eleventh hour.

Adding to the changing of the guard, Datuk Hamzah Brahim also clinched the Deputy President post uncontested, as incumbent Abang Suhordie Abang Zaini also pulled out- paving the way for a new leadership era in Sarawak football.

“I also want to emphasise: I cannot do this alone. I need a strong team behind me to achieve this objective.

“Next, I will meet with the executive committee and divisional presidents to carry out a stock-taking exercise – for example: What fields do we have in Bintulu? What facilities are available in each area?” he said.

He made these remarks when met by reporters after his appointment at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) today.

He added that once the stock-taking is complete, proper planning can begin.

Joining the leadership lineup as Vice-Presidents are Sophie Shariee, Khairulddin Qalam Daud, Khairul Anuar Aden, Mohd Haical Abdullah, and Nicol Agoi – each bringing his own experience to the team.
