KAPIT: Close cooperation between the federal and state governments is proving key to fast-tracking development in Kapit, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Nanta, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kapit, acknowledged that while several infrastructure projects are already underway, progress takes time, saying the local community should remain patient and supportive.
“One major milestone is the approval of the Mara Professional College project in Nanga Yong, which reflects the strong trust and cooperation between both levels of government,” he said.
He added that Putrajaya has also greenlit the construction of a new road linking Nanga Semaram to Nanga Yong, including a bridge spanning the Batang Rajang River.
“These are multi-million-ringgit developments made possible by political stability, the unwavering support of the grassroots, and the collaborative spirit shared by all stakeholders,” he said in a statement issued after launching the new Terabai Market recently.
The RM4.4 million market project, now open to the public, features 96 stalls for vendors to sell agricultural produce, forest products, and fresh food items.
It was designed to ease overcrowding at the old market and eliminate the need for traders to operate along the roadside.
“This market ensures a more comfortable, cleaner, and organised environment for both traders and consumers,” Nanta said.
