SIBU: Feedback gathered through the ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ (SKS) Programme is helping the Sarawak Government improve public service delivery and shape future policies.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the programme enabled government agencies and the Sarawak Civil Service to engage directly with the people, gather feedback, and improve the delivery of government services.
“‘Sarawakku Sayang’ is our government’s initiative. It brings together the administration, government officers and agencies to engage with the people, receive feedback and improve the delivery of services,” he said when officiating the programme here today (July 11).
He thanked the Sarawak Civil Service for its continued commitment to meeting the people, providing advice, and implementing government policies.
“I would like to thank all our government officers who continue working together with the government to serve the people. That is what ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ is all about,” he said.
Abang Johari said the programme had already provided valuable feedback in Sibu.
“I received two pieces of feedback from ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ in Sibu,” he said.
The first came from health screenings conducted during the programme, where many participants were found to be obese.
“I asked the doctors why obesity appeared to be quite common. Perhaps… perhaps… perhaps it is because of ‘mi kampua’,” he said, drawing laughter from the audience.
He, however, stressed that the comment was made in jest and said the important message was for people to take better care of their health.
“If we want to progress, our people must be healthy,” he said.
The second feedback came from students who visited the Sarawak Education and higher education institution booths.
Abang Johari said many expressed appreciation for the state’s free tertiary education initiative, which offers 64 academic programmes.
He said feedback gathered through the programme would help the government continue improving its services and policies to better meet the needs of the people.
