KAPIT: The groundbreaking ceremony for the the Nanga Tulie (Batang Rajang) ferry operation project is scheduled to be held on March 6.
The project aims to improve connectivity for residents in the Nanga Tulie area and enhance mobility across the Rajang River.
The project, estimated to cost over RM23 million, is also expected to boost socio-economic activities within the local community.
A coordination meeting for the ceremony was held at the Kapit State Government Complex yesterday to discuss technical arrangements, logistics, security, and the event programme.
The meeting was organised by the Kapit Division of the Public Works Department (PWD) and attended by Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang, District Officer Thomas Geoffrey Kandawang, as well as heads and representatives from relevant departments.
The groundbreaking ceremony is set to be officiated by Works Minister and Kapit Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
The project involves the proposed operation of a ferry with a capacity for 24 vehicles at the Nanga Tulie crossing over the Batang Rajang in Kapit, including the design-and-build construction of ferry landing facilities.
The project is under the supervision of the Sarawak Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Port (MIPD), with PWD acting as the implementing agency.
