BINTULU: Two lorry attendants were killed while the driver was injured after their fertiliser-laden lorry crashed along Kilometre 16, Bintulu-Miri Pan Borneo Highway, this morning.

The accident, which occurred at around 10:00 am, saw the heavy vehicle allegedly veer off the road before crashing to the roadside.

Firefighters from Bintulu station were dispatched to the scene following an emergency call.

Upon arrival, they found the two attendants trapped in the wreckage, and had to use rescue tools to extricate the victims.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, and their bodies were later handed over to the police for further action.

One of the deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Christon Naim while the identity of the second victim has yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, the lorry driver, who survived the crash, was rescued by members of the public before the arrival of emergency responders.

He was later taken to the hospital for further treatment.

His identity and the severity of his injuries remain unknown.

Investigations are underway to identify the exact cause of the accident.
