MIRI: Miri Hospital recently received a heartwarming visit and generous donations from Work of Mercy, St. Joseph Cathedral, aimed at spreading joy and festive cheer among patients.

The visit, held on Dec 13, featured Christmas carols and gift-giving to patients, bringing smiles and comfort during the holiday season.

In addition, the group also contributed beautiful Christmas decorations for the main lobbies of Block A and Block B, enhancing the festive atmosphere at the hospital.

Miri Hospital expressed its gratitude to Work of Mercy, St. Joseph Cathedral for their support and collaboration, acknowledging the meaningful impact of their efforts in brightening the Christmas celebrations for patients and staff.

On a separate occasion, a total of 65 participants, comprising medical specialists, medical officers, assistant medical officers, and nurses from northern Sarawak, attended a Northern Sarawak Gastroenterology Update 2025 Seminar on Dec 6 organised by the hospial’s Department of General Medicine.

The seminar officiated by Head of the Department of General Medicine Datuk Dr Fam Tem Lom aimed at enhancing participants’ knowledge and skills in gastroenterology and hepatology.

The programme featured insights from expert speakers including Dr Lily Ding, Dr Victoria Kok Shinq Ling, Dr Ho Yoke Fun, Kenneth Voon Kher Ti, Dr Shahreedhan Shahrani, and Dr Chua Wen Jun.

The highlight of the seminar focused on sharing clinical and practical knowledge, strengthening participants’ ability to identify cases requiring endoscopic procedures, and ultimately improving healthcare service quality in the region.
