KUCHING: The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), in partnership with Artist Hairdressing, brought comfort, confidence and cheer to elderly residents of Home of Peace this Christmas season on Friday.

The initiative, themed ‘Love is in the Hair; Bringing Comfort, Confidence and Cheer’, featured complimentary haircuts from stylists who volunteered their time, helping residents feel groomed, confident and valued.

BCCK also contributed essential daily items and prepared a warm Christmas lunch, creating a lively atmosphere filled with laughter, conversations and shared stories.

Reflecting on the initiative, BCCK’s Chief Operating Officer, Rayner Simon, said that it reminded people that even the simplest acts – a conversation, a meal, or a haircut – can brighten lives.

“We hope more people will come forward to visit, volunteer or contribute to Home of Peace because every gesture of kindness counts,” he added.

Matron of Home of Peace, Sister Flora Tingang, highlighted the importance of these small gestures.

“Every smile, every laugh, every little moment of attention matter.

“It reminds us that the elderly are never forgotten and that the smallest gestures can make a big difference in their lives,” she said.

Established 16 years ago by the Catholic Welfare Services Council Sarawak (CWS) in partnership with the St Franciscan Sisters of Sarawak (SSFS), Home of Peace currently cares for 45 residents with the support of 33 staff members and two matrons.

Home of Peace will celebrate Christmas on December 20, and the public is invited to join the festivities or support the Home through the Catholic Welfare Council Sarawak at Lot 183, Jalan Landeh, Kota Padawan, Kuching, or by calling 014-3942425.

Through initiatives like this, BCCK hopes to inspire the community to connect with the Home and brighten the lives of its residents, showing that comfort, confidence and cheer can be shared in even the simplest ways.
