KUCHING: Sadong Jaya’s Muhammad Hasbullah Mood battled through injuries to knock out Kedah’s Apizat, successfully retaining the WBC Muaythai Malaysia title for Sarawak.
Fighting under the banner of DMT, Rentap, and Phoenix Meranek Gym, Hasbullah displayed remarkable composure and resilience, unfazed by a bleeding wound as he defended the belt on home soil.
“This blood doesn’t mean I’m losing; it only gave me more spirit to finish the fight.
“That was my promise to myself, to defend this belt for Sarawak,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted.
The bantamweight title bout was a gritty, high-paced encounter, with Apizat mounting a strong challenge in the early rounds.
But Hasbullah’s superior stamina, sharp timing, and relentless pressure proved decisive, as he delivered a crushing blow in Round 5 that sent the Kedah fighter to the canvas for a knockout win.
The Sarawakian fighter expressed his gratitude to his parents and supporters after the match.
“I feel extremely happy. Syukur to Allah. Thank you also to my mother and father who always pray for me. For the people of Sarawak – this belt is ours,” he said.
Signing off with the Sarawak warrior motto “Agi Idup Agi Ngelaban” (As long as I live, I fight), Hasbullah once again showed that he is a champion not just by title, but by spirit.
The win adds to Hasbullah’s milestone after making history in 2024 as the first Sarawakian to claim the WBC Muaythai Malaysia Bantamweight title.
