SIBURAN: The Health Ministry (MoH) will extend financial assistance and psychological support to the family affected by the recent deaths of a married couple at a residence in Sri Aman on Wednesday.

Health Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, said the assistance would be provided in accordance with established procedures, with priority given to the welfare and emotional well-being of the children, who were believed to be experiencing trauma following the incident.

He said the ministry would mobilise its Psychological First Aid (PFA) teams, along with other relevant support groups, to provide immediate and continued intervention to help the children and affected family members cope with the trauma.

“First of all, I would like to express my condolences to the family and their extended relatives. This is a very tragic incident, and the couple leave behind three children.

“Earlier, we discussed the matter with the Deputy Health Minister and the Sarawak State Health Director, and several immediate actions will be taken.

“As is usually the case, I will also extend financial assistance to the victim’s family, as this is part of our responsibility towards our personnel who have passed away,” he said.

He told the media this after officiating the openings of the Siburan Health Clinic and Serian Health Clinic at the Siburan clinic compound here today.

For the record, the couple concerned were found dead inside the bedroom of their home at Taman Mutiara in Sri Aman on Wednesday.

They were identified as Andy Roy Junran, believed to be in his 40s and serving as a headmaster at a school in Lubok Antu, and his wife Angelin Kibin, a nurse.

The couple left behind three children – two daughters and a son.

Their bodies were discovered by one of the children, who became concerned after the couple did not emerge from their bedroom while preparing for school that morning.

Police have classified the case as murder and are investigating it under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
