MIRI: A telecommunications substation in Senadin caught fire late Sunday night, prompting a rapid response from the Lutong Fire and Rescue team who brought the blaze under control within minutes of arriving on site.
The alarm was raised at 10.39 pm by a member of the public, prompting the immediate deployment of a Scania FRT unit from BBP Lutong.
The crew, reached the scene at 10.53 pm to find a Sacofa-owned transmission cabin already burning.
Firefighters acted fast. After assessing the situation, the team rolled out a 200-foot hose line and drew water from a nearby hydrant to knock down the flames.
The fire was contained by 11.25 pm and fully extinguished shortly after. No injuries were reported.
Technical staff from Sacofa, along with personnel from Sesco and the police, were present to secure the site and assess potential service disruption.
The firefighters left the location at 11.47 pm and returned to base at 12.04am.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and the extent of damage.
