KUCHING: A fire broke out at the Sarawak Land and Survey Department Kuching Division’s office at Jalan Badruddin early this morning.
Firefighters from the Batu Lintang station, assisted by their counterparts from Padungan, were deployed to the scene following a distress call at 1.46 am.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said the blaze, which involved electrical equipment in the registration branch office on the ground floor of the three-storey building, was brought under control by 2.59 am.
“The permanent office building, measuring 40×40 square feet, was about 10 per cent damage due to water and smoke,” the department said in a statement.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
Meanwhile, the cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
