KUCHING: A multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) caught fire at Jalan Taman Riverview Timur here early this morning.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a report of a vehicle on fire at 4.34am today, prompting the Tabuan Jaya fire station to deploy firefighters to the scene.
The team arrived at the location at 4.41am, approximately six kilometres from the station, and found that the fire involved only the vehicle’s bumper.
“Reports from the team said that the fire did not spread to the vehicle’s engine compartment.
“The vehicle owner had extinguished the fire using water before the firefighters arrived.
“When they were there, the team conducted an inspection around the vehicle to ensure there were no remaining sources of ignition or other hazards that could cause the fire to reignite, ” it said.
The situation was declared safe at 4.42am, and the operation ended at 4.50am.
No injuries or casualties were reported.
