KUCHING: A rented room located above a convenience store in Bandar Baru Samariang caught fire yesterday evening (Oct 17), causing partial damage to the premises.
The blaze destroyed several items, including furniture and the tenant’s personal belongings, but no injuries were reported.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak earlier received an emergency call at 8.51 pm, prompting a team from the Petra Jaya fire station to be dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, personnel found that members of the public had extinguished the fire using tap water.
After ensuring there were no remaining sources of ignition and that the situation was safe, the firefighters returned to the station.
