SIBU: A raging fire tore through a vehicle repair workshop at Lorong Upper Lanang here early this morning, reducing five vehicles to charred wreckage.
Sibu Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 chief Andy Alie said that they received a distress call about the incident at 4.11 am before deploying a team of firefighters from Sibu Central.
“The fire engulfed five vehicles – a pair of four-wheel drives, a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and two cars – all of which were about 90 per cent destroyed,” he said in a statement today.
Fortunately, no lives were lost, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, successfully extinguishing it by 5.01 am.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
