KOTA SAMARAHAN: Four families escaped unharmed after their single-storey house in Kampung Niup was destroyed in an early morning fire today.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported as 16 occupants managed to escape to safety.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a distress call at 4.19am and dispatched firefighters from Kota Samarahan and Tabuan Jaya stations to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found the permanent house, measuring approximately 32 by 70 feet, completely gutted in the blaze.
The fire also spread to a neighbouring house, damaging about five per cent of its roof.
The team brought the blaze under control at 5.03am before carrying out overhaul works to ensure there were no remaining hotspots.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
