MIRI: Three single storey terrace houses in Taman Tunku here were destroyed by fire yesterday morning.

The incident reportedly occured around 11.30am. Two fire engines from Lopeng and Miri fire stations were immediately dispatched to the scene in response to the emergency alert on the incident.

According to Miri Fire Chief Supt Law Poh Kiong in a statement, the first house was totally destroyed in the incident, while another two sustained 50 per cent damage.

The fire was believed to have broken out from the first house before it spread to nearby houses. It was believed that the fire started from the first house.

The owner, in her 60s, was not at home when the fire incident occurred as she had gone out early in the morning around 9.30am.

No injuries were reported in the incident. Firemen managed to put the fire under control in less than 20 minutes. However, the actual cause of the incident was not immediately known as investigation was underway.
