KUCHING: A three-storey workers’ wooden barrack at the Bintawa Industrial Estate here was destroyed in a fire yesterday afternoon. A man and a woman were injured in the fire when they tried to save some of their items in the barrack. Both were rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment.

The fire started in the three-storey wooden barrack around 1pm, prompting the residents to run for safety. Firemen from Tabuan Jaya, Batu Lintang and Padungan rushed to the scene. The fire was put out at 4.46 pm but the wooden barrack was razed to the ground.

Most of the quarters are destroyed in the fire.
