BINTULU: A fire broke out at a factory here today, completely destroying its wood storage area.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said it received a distress call at 12:37 pm and immediately dispatched personnel from the Samalaju station to the scene.
“The fire engulfed a 165 by 165 square feet section used to store wood sticks, completely destroying the area.
“Fortunately, no casualties were reported,” it said in a statement.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control using two 200-foot hose lines and two nozzles, with water sourced from a nearby hydrant.
Overhaul efforts were still underway at press time to prevent any potential reignition.
