MIRI: Two heavy lorries were destroyed in a fire at a transport company workshop in Batu Niah, near here on Thursday, fire authorities said.
The blaze broke out at a facility operated by Soon Lik Transport along Jalan Sepupok, engulfing the vehicles while they were parked inside the workshop.
Both lorries were completely destroyed, while a third sustained partial damage to its front after being exposed to intense heat.
Firefighters from the Batu Niah Fire and Rescue Station were alerted at 12.20 pm and arrived at the scene within minutes.
Firefighters began immediate efforts to contain the fire, deploying a hose line to prevent it from spreading further.
The fire was brought under control at 12.57 pm and fully extinguished shortly afterwards.
Personnel remained on site to ensure the area was safe before concluding operations in the early afternoon.
A total of five firefighters and one fire engine were involved in the response. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained.
