DARO: A family of three came home from a wedding this morning (May 5) to find their house in Kampung Tebaang completely destroyed by fire, leaving them with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
The residents, aged 32, 65, and 72, were not at home when the fire broke out.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 chief Andy Alie said they received a distress call at 8.32 am and dispatched firefighters from Daro station to the scene, about 14km away.
“Upon arrival, they found the house was beyond saving and performed the extinguishing deed using water sourced from the villager’s water tank and a nearby river.
“The team managed to bring the fire under control at 9.20am and prevent it from spreading to the nearby houses,” he said.
He added that overhaul woks were conducted to eliminate any risk of reignition before wrapping up the operation at 10.58 am.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation
