LIMBANG: An old quarters belonging to the Public Works Department (PWD) at Jalan Muhibah here, was reduced to ashes in a fire last night (Jul 2).

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported as the building was unoccupied.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Limbang station were dispatched to the scene following an emergency call at 9.08 pm.

Upon arrival, they found the house beyond saving and extinguished the fire using water from their engine.

The flames were brought under control at 9.33 pm and overhaul works followed suit to ensure no reignition. The operation ended at 10.47 pm.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
