Fire razes abandoned house

BINTULU:  An abandoned double-storey house at Kampung Baru was razed by a fire on Saturday (June 20).   

According to sources, a group of homeless people have been living there for some time prior to the incident.

A team of 15 firefighters from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station, led by PBK II Winston Tan, rushed to the scene upon receiving a distress call on the emergency at 11.38pm on Saturday

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre (PGO), the house was 90 percent destroyed.

No injuries were reported in the incident and the fire was brought under control at 11.58pm.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known and investigation is underway.
