BINTULU: The Salvation Army here has been working tirelessly to help ease the plight faced by 92 people who lost their homes on April 7.
The victims, 27 of whom were children, were left with only the clothes on their backs when fire destroyed 16 squatter homes in Sungai Plan, Jalan Tanjung Kidurong.

The Salvation Army, through its Community Centre, swung into action, promptly extending initial aid in the form of food, daily necessities, and basic supplies to the affected families.
Bintulu Salvation Army Corps Officer, Captain Daniel Lim, said the organisation felt compelled to assist, understanding the hardship faced by the victims —particularly the children — who now have to cope with the loss of their homes and an uncertain environment.
“We are incredibly fortunate to live in comfort, while they lost everything in the blink of an eye.
“Now is the time for all of us, as a community, to play our part by offering help, no matter how big or small. What matters most is that it comes from a sincere heart,” he said.
Lim called on the local community, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and private companies to come forward and contribute in the form of cash donations, essential items, or volunteer manpower to support the victims in rebuilding their lives.
“Assistance should not only be limited to today. We are also striving to ensure long-term support continues so they can truly stand on their own again,” he added.
