“Each victim from the fire received aids amounting to RM1500 which were contributed by the Kota Samarahan Welfare Department (JKMS) Samarahan and JKMS Sarawak,” he told reporters during a site visit yesterday.

He also pointed out that the cause of the fire is still unknown, as the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) is still investigating.

“The fire happened at the top floor, which was the fourth floor of the apartment.

“Based on the experiences that we have handled, most fires are affected by electrical appliances not being switched off. Therefore, I urge the public to always be aware of these matters,” he added.

New Sarawak Tribune interviewed the fire victims, Carlteddy Rasjmarthniy Adi, 45, who works as a lecturer in MSU College, Sarawak said during the time of the fire incident, he was at his parents’ residence in Taman Malihah.

Razi speaks to a Bomba official regarding the fire incident.

“Upon arrival, around 6.45 pm, there was nothing much that I could do as the firefighters were already extinguishing the fire when I arrived,” he said.

Another victim of the fire, Raymond Hollis, 31, was glad that he received assistance from JKMS and also the management, who assisted in providing different forms of aid.
