BETONG: The Sarawak Government has acted swiftly to provide immediate assistance to victims of a fire incident in Kampung Tuie through the Social Welfare Department of Sarawak (JKMS) Betong Division, following the incident that occurred on Sunday.
The fire incident which occurred and reported on March 22 (Sunday) at around 1 pm, involved three houses.
Villagers assisted to douse off the fire with firefighting operations and follow-up actions were done by the authorities to ensure the situation was fully under control.
Following the incident, Deputy Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, visited the affected area to assess the situation and meet with the victims.
Razi, who is also Saribas assemblyman, presented the initial assistance provided through JKMS to ease the burden of the victims, while ensuring their welfare would be given due attention.
The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) also provided support in the form of basic food assistance to the victims.
Among the aid provided were construction materials, cash assistance, kitchen utensils, daily clothing, dry food, sleeping items, school uniforms, school supplies as well as essential kits.
Overall, the assistance involved three household heads (KIR) with a total value of RM28,890.
The state government, through the relevant agencies, will continue to monitor the situation closely and remains committed to ensuring the wellbeing of the victims while providing additional assistance as needed.
