KUCHING: Firefighters are currently on site to carry out cooling and overhaul operations following a recurrent tyre pile fire at Mile 9, Lorong Green Wood, here on Friday evening.
The fire, which occurred at the back of a factory, was reported at 5:40 pm and is estimated to have covered an area of 30 by 40 feet.
A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak told Sarawak Tribune that firefighters are also being assisted by Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) in removing the burnt tyres using an excavator.
On Friday, the department said personnel from the Kota Samarahan and Kota Sentosa fire and rescue stations were rushed to the scene, with the first fire engine arriving at 6:15 pm.
Based on initial reports, firefighters used two 300-foot hoses with two nozzles and sourcing water from a nearby fire hydrant to control the flames.
No injuries or casualties were reported.
