SELANGAU: A five-door longhouse under construction at Rumah Radin Nyawai, Jalan Bukut here, caught fire on Tuesday night.
However, quick actions by Selangau firefighters prevented a total destruction of the longhouse.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the team was dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 7.15 pm.
Upon arrival, they found that two of the doors in the longhouse were on fire and the extinguishing deed was carried out using water sourced from a nearby fire hydrant.
The team managed to save three doors from being destroyed in the fire.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
Once the situation was deemed safe and there was no risk of reignition, the operation ended at 10.30 pm. The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
