Firefighters rescue distressed man in forest

SIBURAN: A local man with a history of mental health was rescued after attempting to harm himself in a forested area near Sungai Tuang bridge, Jalan Kuching-Serian today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they had received an emergency call from the police for assistance in the rescue operation at 11:02 am.

Firefighters from Siburan station along with paramedics were dispatched to the scene near Tapah town.

Upon arrival, rescuers were informed that the man, in his 40s, had tried to harm himself about 50 metres from the Kuching-Serian highway.

However, his attempt was unsuccessful thanks to the quick action of his father, who immediately contacted the police for help.

Firefighters only assisted in bringing the victim out from the difficult terrain before handing him over to paramedics and the police for further examination and action.

The operation concluded at 11:32 am.
