Firefighters rescue man stung by venomous insect on Gunung Mongag

BAU: A local man who fainted after being stung by a venomous insect while trekking up Gunung Mongag was safely brought down by firefighters this morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Bau station were dispatched to the scene along Jalan Kampung Bijuray Mongag following a distress call at 8.55 am.

The rescue team made their way up the mountain with the village chief using a pickup truck, accompanied by several villagers.

When they arrived, the 30-year-old victim was found conscious but in stable condition. Firefighters placed him on a stretcher and carried him down the mountain.

Upon reaching the foot of the hill, he was handed over to paramedics for initial treatment before being taken to hospital.

The rescue operation ended at 10.30 am.
