SIBU: A bedroom storing electrical appliances and furniture in a double storey house, caught fire at Jalan Perpati 5 last Monday (Mar 15).
The State Fire Department operations centre said firemen from Sibu and Sungai Merah were despatched to the scene after receiving a distress call pertaining to the incident around 5.15pm.
The firemen arrived to find thick smoke coming out from the upper floor of the house and proceeded to put out the blaze. Several electrical appliances, furniture, wall and ceiling of the room were damaged.
No casualties were reported as the tenants were not at home during the incident.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
