IPOH, Perak: The Perak enforcement division of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) seized 880 boxes of fish crackers worth RM40,299 found using a fake halal logo in a raid at a food processing factory in Hutan Melintang, near Teluk Intan, on Tuesday.

Its director, Datuk Kamaluddin Ismaii, said the raid was conducted at about 11:30 am in collaboration with the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk).

“During an inspection, the factory owner failed to produce the Malaysian Halal Certification Certificate issued by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM),” he said in a statement today.

Kamaluddin said the case was being investigated under Order 8 (a) of the Trade Descriptions (Certification and Marking of Halal) Order 2011.

He said the enforcement team also seized 1,750 litres of diesel and 136 kilogrammes of packet cooking oil, all valued at RM5,065 at the premises after the owner failed to provide documents for storing controlled items. – BERNAMA
