MUKAH: Police on Thursday (Sept 24) arrested a 51-year-old fisherman who was suspected to be involved in a drug abuse activity.

He was riding a motorcycle at the roadside at Kampung Tanjung here when police confronted him at 7.20am.

While being arrested, the suspect tried to escape but he failed.

Mukah District police chief DSP Jimmy Panyau said check on suspect’s motorcycle found and seized a box hidden under the seat compartment.

“It contains a small transparent packet filled with crystalline substances suspected to be Methamphetamine weighing 6.25g,” he said in a statement on Friday (Sept 25).

He added urine test also found that the suspect was drug positive.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
