SIBU: Five two-storey houses and four vehicles were damaged in a fire at Lorong 4, Jalan Sukun here this morning.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
A distress call on the incident was received at 7.15 am, and a team from the Sibu Sentral fire and rescue station, assisted by Sungai Merah station, was dispatched to the scene about 7km away.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said upon arrival, firefighters discovered that one house was almost completely destroyed, while four others sustained minor damages involving the car porch.
“The fire also destroyed four vehicles parked at the premises — a Toyota Unser, two Perodua Myvi, and a motorcycle,” it said in a statement.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 8.25 am and fully extinguished it at 8.40 am, using water from nearby hydrants and equipment from their engines.
