KUCHING: Five people sustained minor injuries after a car veered off the road and plunged into a 10-metre-deep drain near Wisma Sabati here today (Apr 10).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the incident involved a Perodua Bezza in a self-skid accident.
“The victims comprised two adult men, one adult woman, a boy and a girl. Upon arrival, firefighters found the driver still inside the vehicle while another victim was in the drain.
“An adult woman and two children had been rescued earlier by members of the public,” Bomba spokesperson said.
Firefighters then used rescue tools to extricate the remaining victims.
All victims were handed over to Health Ministry personnel for further treatment, while the woman and two children were taken to hospital by the Red Crescent ambulance.
Bomba also carried out clean-up works at the scene to ensure the area was safe before concluding the operation.
