SERIAN: A family’s drive ended in tragedy when five members of the same family, including a baby girl, were killed after their vehicle crashed into a water pipeline along Jalan Baki Lama–Ensengei today.
The victims comprised an adult man, three adult women and the infant, all of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters from Serian station were dispatched to the scene, about 25km away, following an emergency call at 8.41am.
Upon arrival, they found the vehicle badly damaged and extricated four victims from the wreckage.
Meanwhile, the baby girl was discovered by members of the public near the crash scene. She is believed to have been ejected from the vehicle during the collision.
Paramedics later confirmed that all five victims had succumbed to their injuries.
Their bodies were handed over to the police for further actions. The identities of the deceased were not immediately known.
Once the situation was deemed safe for other road users, the operation ended at 9.51am.
