SARIKEI: Five individuals, including a young girl, escaped unhurt after the sport utility vehicle (SUV) they were travelling in crashed into a road barrier along Sungai Paoh, Jalan Pan Borneo, here yesterday afternoon (July 29).
The individuals — one adult male, three adult females, and a girl — managed to exit the vehicle safely before the rescue team arrived at the scene.
They were later taken to the hospital for further observation.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said a distress call was received at 1.57 pm, prompting personnel from Sarikei to be dispatched to the scene, located about 19km away.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found that the vehicle had lost control before crashing into the road barrier,” it said in a statement.
It added that the individuals did not sustain any serious injuries, and no firefighting or rescue operations were carried out.
