SERIAN: Two drivers were injured in a five-vehicle pile-up near Sungai Mamat Bridge along Jalan Serian-Kuching last night (June 1).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received an emergency call at 9.41 pm before dispatching firefighters from Serian station to the scene.

Upon arrival, the team confirmed that the crash involved a Toyota Hilux, a van, a Perodua Axia, a Perodua Myvi, and a Perodua Alza.

A man driving the Hilux and a woman behind the wheel of the Axia were injured in the accident.

The Hilux driver was taken to Serian Hospital by members of the public, while the emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) unit transported the Axia driver to the same hospital for treatment. Their identities and the extent of their injuries have yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, the drivers and passengers of the other vehicles reportedly escaped unharmed, and no rescue operation was required.

The exact number of individuals involved in the crash remains unclear.

Firefighters later conducted flushing work to remove debris from the road to ensure the safety of other motorists.
