SIBU: The Sacred Heart Cathedral (SHC) will launch a five-year nationwide Catholic campaign called ‘Protect Our Earth, Protect Our Children and Protect All Life on Earth’ tomorrow (Aug 31).
The campaign will begin on Sept 1 this year through to August 31, 2025.
According to a spokesperson of SHC’s Creation Justice Commission Committee Jarnice Ling, each year will have a different theme, with “Use Less Electricity” as the theme for year one.
She said the campaign would be carried out in all dioceses for five consecutive years.
Ling said the launching mass would be conducted by Bishop Joseph Hii at SHC tomorrow (Aug 31) at 9am.
For the launching mass, seats are limited to 250 participants, she said, adding those wishing to attend may register with Philip Kong, at 016-8713627.
“Those wishing to join the walk for the care of our environment after the launching mass, are advised to have casual wear; we will pick up rubbish along the way as we walk through some roads.
“We will have a ‘plugging’ walk to raise public awareness of preserving environment which is our shared responsibility,” Ling added.
