KUCHING: Ramadan Bazaars are viewed as melting pots of culinary diversity, where the aroma of delicacies mingles with the chatter of eager patrons seeking unique and delectable treats.
From savoury delights to sweet indulgences, each stall beckons with its distinct offerings.
The New Sarawak Tribune had the opportunity to explore the Rahmad Madani Bazaar at Metrocity Night Market and spoke to a few vendors selling their specialities during this holy month.
Sabha Saat, 39, a regular vendor at Metrocity night market, pointed out that their speciality is universally beloved fried food.
According to her, she sells a variety of fried foods like tilapia, cuttlefish, and chicken served with both white rice and fried rice.
“We have our homemade sambal tomato that perfectly balances sweetness, sourness, and spiciness,” she said, adding that the recipe for her sambal is her invention.
Additionally, she stated that her stall also offers ‘rahmah’ meals consisting of white rice and chicken curry, priced at only RM5.
Apart from that, patrons can also enjoy the crater cooking style.
Dayang Farizah, the owner of one of the stalls, expressed her inspiration to provide the people of Metrocity with a variety of crater food options.
She pointed out that such cooking styles are rarely seen being sold here.
“Therefore, my stall offers a variety of noodle options, including clam ‘kueh teow’, fried noodles, fried rice vermicelli, and fried flat-egg noodles.
“We also have a selection of rice dishes available: shrimp paste fried rice, black olive fried rice, and corned beef fried rice,” she said.
Dayang Farizah also noted that all their dishes are priced at RM6, making them affordable for everyone.
Apart from food, there is also a particular stall that stands out with its impressive fruit cocktail, boasting a blend of 14 unique ingredients.
A variety of fruits and toppings were added to the drink, including red apple, green apple, pear, green grape, dragon fruit, watermelon, chia seed, nata de coco, sago, corn, grass jelly, and longan.
These were complemented by a combination of evaporated creamer and condensed milk.
Even though cocktails are typically associated with alcohol, here in Metrocity night market, the cocktail drink is halal and can be enjoyed by anyone of any age for only RM10.
