SERIAN: Flood damage in two villages here has disrupted daily activities and essential services, prompting a site visit by Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem to assess the situation and coordinate follow-up action.

Riot, who is the Member of Parliament for Serian, visited Kampung Krusen Kranji, where the main access road into the village has collapsed following flooding, cutting off movement and affecting residents’ daily routines.

Also present during the visit were the Serian Divisional Resident, Deputy Divisional Resident, Serian District Officer, Public Works Department (PWD) Serian representatives, Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) Serian representatives, Kampung Krusen Kranji village head Donald Phillip Paru, and the village head of Kampung Krusen Si-u.

The village’s water supply was also disrupted after the main water pipeline supplying the area sustained damage.

He later proceeded to Kampung Krusen Si-u to inspect a suspension bridge that was severely damaged after its main supporting pillar bent due to the collapse of the riverbank.

Relevant agencies are expected to take immediate action after the Disaster Management Committee completes the damage assessment and to provide interim assistance to affected residents.

The visit was part of ongoing efforts to monitor post-flood conditions and ensure a timely response to infrastructure damage and community needs in flood-affected areas.
