KUCHING: Flood evacuations across Sarawak continued to increase as of 8.00 pm today, with 3,546 people from 1,030 households currently housed at 40 temporary evacuation centres (PPS) statewide.

Data released by the Sarawak Civil Defence Force (APM) showed that flooding affected 12 districts across six divisions, with several areas reporting higher evacuation numbers compared to earlier in the day.

Serian recorded the highest concentration of evacuees, with 26 PPS accommodating 2,220 people from 644 households, as flood conditions persisted in low-lying and residential areas.

In Samarahan, six PPS were activated to shelter 596 evacuees from 186 households, while Mukah recorded 202 people housed at one centre.

Bintulu reported 227 evacuees across two PPS, while Miri had 158 evacuees sheltered at three centres.

Meanwhile, Sibu recorded 143 evacuees at two PPS, while Kuching had no active PPS as of the latest update.

Authorities continued to monitor the situation closely as evacuation and relief operations remained ongoing in affected areas.
