KUCHING: Flood evacuations continued to rise across Sarawak, with 2,831 people displaced at 39 temporary evacuation centres (PPS) across seven divisions as of 8.00 am today.

According to the latest situation report by the Sarawak Civil Defence Force (APM), Serian was the worst affected division, recording 24 PPS housing 1,698 evacuees from 481 households, accounting for the largest share of the displaced population.

This was followed by Samarahan, where six PPS were activated to shelter 586 people from 185 households, while Kuching recorded three PPS accommodating 225 evacuees from 64 households.

Other affected divisions included Mukah with 155 evacuees, Miri with 153, and both Sibu and Bintulu, each recording seven evacuees at one PPS.

Evacuee numbers at several PPS – particularly in Serian and Samarahan – were reported to be still increasing, while others remained stable or showed a decline.

Authorities continued to monitor the situation as rain persisted in parts of the state.
