SRI AMAN: Authorities here are ready to provide food assistance and basic supplies to residents affected by flooding in the Pantu area.

But Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan who visited the area on Friday (Jan 31), said the flooding has made the Batang Seterap Bridge, a vital route for residents, impassable.

“The rising water levels have cut off access to more than 40 longhouses across the bridge.

“This has made it difficult for residents to reach basic facilities and emergency services, creating challenges in securing aid and daily necessities,” he said.

Snowdan who is Balai Ringin assemblyman said the Social Welfare Department, the Pantu District Office, along with the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) are prepared to deliver food assistance and basic supplies to the affected residents as soon as the situation permits.

Also present were Pantu District Officer Raca Mulong, Pantu District Office staff Stanley Randy, Patat Governor Franklin Regu and Tom Desmond, as well as Kapitan Lee Khin Onn.
