Flood in Sabah: Evacuees increase to 262 people

KOTA KINABALU: The number of flood victims increased to 262 people from 81 families as of 8 am today compared to 87 people from 23 families last night.

The Sabah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, in a statement, said that a total of 251 people from 76 families have been evacuated to four relief centres (PPS) in the Telupid district and 11 people (seven families) to two PPS in the Paitan district.

“The number of evacuees in Paitan increased this morning, while in Telupid it remained the same,” according to the statement today.

Telupid and Paitan are districts in the interior of Sabah located over 200 kilometres and 230 kilometres, respectively, from Kota Kinabalu. – Bernama
