DALAT: Flood conditions in the district remained under control, with authorities monitoring the situation closely following recent inundation in several low-lying areas.
Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said current flooding was triggered by a combination of king tide conditions and continuous rainfall.
“Most of the affected homes are located in areas that are prone to flooding,” she said after carrying out site visits to assess the situation in the district on Sunday (Jan 4).
Fatimah also attended the Dalat District Flood Preparedness Briefing at the Kampung Sungai Ud Multipurpose Hall before visiting several locations impacted by the flooding.
On the same note, the Dalat assemblywoman said discussions had been held on several long-term mitigation measures to reduce flood risks and minimise future damage.
These included proposals to raise road levels in frequently inundated areas where access was often disrupted, such as Kampung Tanam, Kampung Sungai Ud and the bend at Kampung Teh.
