DALAT: Relief efforts were swiftly mobilised for flood-hit communities in Ulu Baoh when Deputy Health Minister and Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib delivered food and beverage aid to affected longhouse residents and disaster response personnel.

The floods, triggered by continuous heavy rainfall, forced the opening of a temporary evacuation centre (PPS) at Rumah James, Sebaya Atas, Sungai Baoh Burak at 3.00 pm.

The centre is currently sheltering residents from three affected longhouses -Rumah Simu, Rumah Lenggang and Rumah Buan.

As of 9.00 pm Friday, 155 individuals from 55 households (KIR) had been registered at the evacuation centre.

Hanifah conveyed her sympathy to residents who suffered losses and damage to their homes and personal belongings due to the flooding.

She said immediate action was taken after receiving reports of the situation, with officers from the Mukah Parliamentary Service Centre directed to deliver essential supplies to families in need.

She expressed hope that the assistance would help ease the immediate burden faced by flood victims and enable them to continue their daily routines in a safer and more comfortable environment while recovery efforts are ongoing.

Also present during the aid distribution were Tellian State Assemblyman Royston Valentine and Ulu Baoh Dalat area headman Sebastian Sintan.
