MIRI: Severe flooding in the Sungai Saeh area of Niah has rendered key road links impassable after water levels rose to about four feet late this morning (Dec 9).

A monitoring team from the Batu Niah Fire and Rescue Station reported that both the Sungai Saeh Merah and Sungai Saeh Putih routes were fully submerged, forcing all vehicle movement to stop.

The team was on-site between 10.40am and noon to assess conditions.

State Fire and Rescue Department Operation Centre said no evacuations had been carried out so far, although continuous rain in the area has raised concern over the possibility of further disruption.

Emergency teams are maintaining surveillance while keeping local residents updated should conditions worsen.
