BINTULU: The flood situation here is reported to be improving, according to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) secretariat.

“Most areas have seen the water recede, particularly in Sungai Plan and Gem Park.

“The increase in evacuees at the temporary evacuation centres (PPS) is mainly from rural areas along Jalan Persisir heading towards Kuala Tatau,” SDMC said in a statement today.

As at 8 am, a total of 4,830 evacuated have been relocated to nine PPS across Bintulu.

The PPS includes Dewan Suarah, Pusat Sukan BDA Kidurong, Stadium Muhibah, Dewan SMK Assyakirin, Balai Raya Jepak, Naim Paragon, Rh Steven Jeli, Tatau, SMK Tatau, and Balai Raya Sebauh.
